Our summer vacation was to Orange Beach! Mama and Papa got two 3 bedroom condos for us. Mama, Papa, Carrie, Chris, Pearce, Jen, Alexandra, Robert, Lisa, Taylor, Victoria, John, his kids Landon and Savannah, and the four of us. It was our first trip in my new car and we were very comfortable. In fact, Wayne pretty much drove the whole time! In order to break up the trip, we woke up early and drove to New Orleans. It was wonderful! We stayed in the French Quarter and walked all around. We ate at the most delicious restaurant! We both agreed it was one of the best meals we've had!!! I had a pasta dish called Pasta Ponchatrain. I can still taste it. It was a fettuccine pasta in a creamy sauce with the best spices and the most delicious crab cakes on top. I wish I could eat it again right now! Wayne had fried Cajun shrimp. Nathan did too plus a cup of gumbo that he loved and we also had grilled alligator! We loved eating the authentic food. Charlotte, though, had waffles, lol!!! The next day, we walked around more and had a wonderful breakfast. We did a little shopping and then headed to the beach!
We had such a wonderful time with all of our family at the beach. Our condos were beautiful and the weather was great. It rained only a little bit but we enjoyed it because the waves were huge! We played at the beach, went crabbing at night, swam in the pool, played putt putt and rode go karts. We went across the street a few times to a little seafood restaurant. They had the best food and mixed drinks! While we were there, we challenged Nathan and Charlotte to eat an oyster! Wayne bet Nathan $10 to do it. I really thought he would! We were cheering for him, chanting his name, and Wayne raised the price. After several times of ALMOST doing it, he said he just couldn't. And he's the adventurous eater! Then he offered Charlotte $30! She is so picky that we thought there was no way. We all chanted her name and finally she did it! She gagged a bit and the people sitting across from her got a little worried, lol! But she kept it down. I have it all on video and it is hilarious. Nathan tried again the next day and this time got it in his mouth, but he just couldn't swallow it. I laughed so hard at him when he spit it out. Good try Nay Nay!!!
