Seaside with the Boys

This was a first for us! Amy wanted to do something special for Drew for his 18th birthday, and the boys have all been saying how much fun it would be to go to the beach together. At first, we were going to go to Galveston since it would be a quick and easy drive, but the boys really wanted Seaside. Amy said she'd plan the whole thing if I'd agree to go as a chaperone. The boys were so excited!!!! It was Nathan, Drew, Davyn, Cooper, Camden, Ethan, and Cal and then me, Amy, Kylie, Kylie's friend Meredith, and Harley. We met at Kylie's house at 5:00 am Thursday morning to start the drive. The boys all rode together in Amy's SUV and took turns driving, and then the girls rode in my car. It was a long road trip but so much fun! Our plan was to all stay together and stop at the same time, but that only lasted until breakfast time. Everyone had to stop at different times, so we just kept up with the boys on Life 360 and ended up seeing them periodically on the road. When we got to our house at Seaside, we unpacked and the boys took showers and got dressed to go into the town that evening. Kylie, Harley, Meredith and I  did the same thing while Amy went to the grocery store. Within about 15 minutes of being in the little square, the boys were already talking to a group of girls. It was so funny!!! We were like that happened fast! I had never been to Seaside, but I honestly couldn't believe how many teenagers there were! It was like a teen Miami Beach! Everyone rode bikes or used golf carts to get around. It was such a cute area. The next day we went to the beach. We rented chairs and umbrellas but really only saw the boys for a few minutes. They quickly made friends with another group of girls! That was pretty much how the rest of the trip went. We'd see the boys briefly to eat and then they were off socializing. I loved being with Amy, Kylie, Harley, and Meredith. We all got along so well, and Harley is the sweetest baby ever! She called me Miss Ashley and really did like being with me.  We left Sunday morning, and the ride back was a bit of a nightmare. We went over the 4th of July weekend which was one reason why it was crowded and the roads were packed coming home, but what took us 11 hours to get there, took us 15 to get home! And then the boys ended up taking a totally different route than us, but I had fallen asleep while Amy was driving and didn't notice. That worried me because even though we were driving in the same direction, they were 2 hours south of us. But it all worked out, and Nathan told me he had THE TIME OF HIS LIFE! Knowing how much fun the boys had made it all worth it.
