JV Black Season Cut Short (10th Grade)

We were looking so forward to 10th grade football. Nathan was starting on JV black as a wide receiver. He never missed a practice and was doing amazing. Several plays were designed just for him. The first game was against Jesuit. Nathan was a beast! He made several touchdowns and several long passes. On one play, he made a touchdown and was tackled in the end zone. When he got up, he was limping. He sat out for a while but went back in. After the game, he said his leg was hurting. Wayne took him to the urgent care that saturday and they said it was probably just a deep tissue bruise. We rested it, iced it, used a heating pad, everything. On Monday, he went to see the trainer that morning who said the same thing. Deep muscle bruise and will take a while to feel better. Nathan sat out that week of practice. Thursday night comes and Nathan took some ibuprofin, used tiger balm, icy hot, anything he could think of! The coach said if he felt like it, he could play the first series and see how it feels. Well he got a touchdown in the very beginning! He played the whole game and got several more long passes. After the game, he went out with his friends and said it was feeling better. But Friday morning, he woke up with it being really sore. Wayne had an appointment for him to get an xray and almost cancelled it because Nathan said it was feeling better but decided to just go get the xray that morning. They got the bad news that he had a fractured fibula! I just about died when Wayne sent me the xray. I was at recess and almost cussed out loud in front of the kids and then started crying! The season was over for him before it really started, and I was so worried about how he would take the news. I just wanted to get home and talk to him. Nathan had such a great attitude. He said theres nothing we can do about it so we just have to be positive. He said he'll still go to practice and be the beggest cheerleader on the side line. We were so proud of him! For him to be playing on a fractured leg shows how much he loves the sport.

Happy 16th Birthday Nathan

We can't believe our baby boy is 16! He practiced driving for a year with Wayne and then really practiced hard the week before his birthday so he could pass his road test. We went to the Carrollton Mega Center DPS over and over to practice parallel parking and driving around the neighborhoods there. We wanted him to be really familiar with the area for the test. He did great. That night though, I was looking at his appointment details to make sure I had the time right. That's when I realized I made the appointment at the wrong location! It was in old plano instead of the carrollton DPS. I was so mad at myself but we decided not to tell Nathan so that he didn't worry about it and got a good night's sleep. The next morning was a Monday morning. Wayne told him that morning but said he was fine with it, thank goodness. I kept checking my phone that morning to see if he passed. Wayne and Nathan called me when I was at recess and said he passed! That night Nathan told me that the roads in that area were so bad with potholes! But he did it! On his actual birthday which was the night before his driving test, he asked for a sushi lunch and a strawberry, banana, and nutella crepe.

Nathan's birthday party was the weekend before. He invited about 15 boys over! They pretty much stayed outside the whole time and swam, played ping pong, ate, and laughed and laughed!!! There was a big boxing match on that night with Jake Paul. It was $60 to buy but Daddy made it happen. They loved it! And his friends gave him so many nice gifts; mainly cash and gift cards! One friend gave him $100 and said it was for gas money taking him out.
