Lake Videos

Here are some videos I forgot I had of Nathan at the lake with his friends. The first two are of him playing in a baby pool, and the last are of him shoveling popcorn in his mouth. He is the funniest little boy ever!

The Pool is Open!

When Wayne and I got back from Las Vegas, we celebrated Memorial Day by testing out the pool. It was still a little chilly so Mommy chickened out. I mean I would have gotten in, but someone had to take pictures :) Nathan talked Daddy into braving the water!

We also took advantage of having Wayne home and cleaned out the garage. Nathan was a big help! He drank his juice, helped me sweep, and played with toys we found hidden.

"Hey, I remember playing in this when I was a little bitty baby!"

Oh, and Happy Birthday Wayne! Wayne turned 33 in Vegas. He's almost 40 now!

Las Vegas!

Wayne and I spent the weekend in Vegas! Wayne was there on business a few days before, and I flew there to meet him. We left Nathan with Mama, Papa, Aunt Carrie, Uncle Chris, Cookie, and Otis so he was in excellent hands! From what I heard, he was completely spoiled :) I actually started my vacation on Thursday because even though my flight wasn't leaving until Friday morning, mom and dad thought it would be easier if I dropped Nathan off Thursday afternoon instead of early that morning. Sounds great to me! So after dropping Nathan off, I got my hair cut, ate a fattening dinner, packed, and watched my trashy reality shows :)

I had a great flight, although it was kind of strange traveling by myself. With Wayne not there, I thought I better leave early just to make sure I knew where to park, get checked in, go through security, and still have a little time left over. Well, it only took me 45 minutes to get from my house to the gate...I still had an hour and 15 minutes to kill! So I bought some magazines, got Starbucks, and relaxed.

When I got to the hotel, I got Wayne and I a margarita, and then met him in the room. We relaxed for a little while and then headed out to explore. We went out to dinner at Caesar's Palace, and then walked up and down the strip. There were lights everywhere and tons of people! I loved it! The next day, we slept in, ordered room service for breakfast, and then walked around the strip some more. We walked into all of the casinos and ate lunch at New York, New York. It's so neat how all of the casinos have themes! Here are some pictures of New York, New York:

There's even a roller coaster outside of this hotel/casino!

Wayne loved the ESPN Zone. There were probably 40 tvs with different games on each.

I played a few slots and won a whopping 2 dollars!

After exploring all of the casinos and hotels, we made our way back to our hotel. It was so hot, so we changed into our suits and laid out at the pool. Boy was that a good "people watching" site. I think Vegas is the least modest place there is! We actually saw girls in tiny thongs prancing around! What was crazy is that although a lot of the people did look good, there were plenty who needed to cover up a bit...very interesting :)

After enjoying the pool (and a few more margaritas) for a while, we took showers, got ready, and then headed to the Luxor for dinner and a show. The Luxor had an Egyptian theme, and was very fancy. We ate dinner at a night club themed restaurant called The Cathouse. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was like a sophisticated brothel! We loved it! Afterwards, we went to the Cris Angel show. He's an illusionist and combined his tricks with a Cirque de Soleil performance. Even thought it was 11:00 when we got out, the night was still young! We went back to the hotel, got more drinks, and gave the casino our money! We we were having so much fun that before we realized it, it was 3:00 in the morning! This city never sleeps! There were still tons of people up and since it's dark in the casino, you have no idea what time it is. I finally went up to the room at 5:00, and Wayne stayed up playing roulette until 7:00!

We got a few hours slept (we actually overslept) and raced to the airport the next morning thinking we were going to miss our flight. But we got there just as everyone was boarding. We had the most fun and definitely want to go back!

I wish I had more pictures to show you, but you all know...what happens in Vegas, STAYS in Vegas!

Fun at the Lake

Last Wednesday, Nathan and I spent the night away at Erin's lake house. Erin is a mom in my playgroup, and she invited all of us to the lake for a day and night. We left Wednesday morning and got there around lunch time. It was such an easy drive...only an hour and a half away, but we totally felt like we were on a vacation! Nathan slept that whole time and was ready to play as soon as we got out of the car. After quickly unpacking, we fixed lunch and headed outside to eat. Erin and Suzy, Andrea and Thorne were the only ones there yet...Alison and Lauren arrived later that afternoon.

Lunch was not too successful. Thorne, Nathan, and Suzy were too excited to sit and eat their whole meal. They were up and down, eating a bite here and there, running, laughing, and exploring. Andrea, Erin, and I gulped our food down while trying to chase after all of them. They were so cute together!

Here is the one shot we got of all three kids sitting quietly together. Suzy went down for her nap, but since Thorne and Nathan took their naps early, they were ready to get wet and dirty!

This water isn't germy is it? Nathan still uses sippy cups, so he took this opportunity to practice with a real cup.

"Are these the same ducks that hang out at my house?"

Thorne and Nathan couldn't wait to walk on the dock and see the boats. As you can see in the following two pictures, it was EXTREMELY windy on top of the deck! Not a good hair day for us!

Snack time!

Nathan usually only takes one nap a day, but he and Thorne tired themselves out, so Andrea and I were able to lay them down for a mid-afternoon nap. They went to sleep just as Suzy was waking up. But at least Andrea and I were able to have a short break...and a couple of drinks (soft drinks of course!) Our plan was to wake them up after an hour, but that hour came up so quickly! We kept saying give them 10 more minutes...OK 5 more minutes...and so on. We finally got them up after an hour and a half! Nathan was still so tired, but when I told him that Alison and Lauren were there, he jumped up and was ready to go!

We changed them into their swimsuits and headed outside again.

Here's Nathan's "action" shot. He was showing off a little too much by jumping up and down. But he thought it was so fun to fall in the water that he did it over and over :)

Snack time again! This time the snack was popcorn...Nathan's favorite! He stuffs as much as he can in his mouth. I worry about him choking, but he seems to be able to handle it. I've come to realize that he eats his popcorn like his Daddy and Papa...which is why mom and I don't like to share popcorn with them at the movies...they eat it all!

Thorne, Nathan, Lauren, and Suzy

Nathan took a break from playing, and got to have the popcorn all to himself.

"Miss Ashley, he's eating it all!!"
This was so funny! Thorne, Nathan, and Lauren raced down the driveway in their vehicle of choice! They took it so seriously too. We line them up, and they didn't move until we said GO. They loved it and kept wanting to race over and over.

Thorne and Nathan were very competitive! They took turns running the other off the road :)

Nighty Night, time for bed. Nathan was definitely ready to go to bed after a long day. He slept all night and even slept 30 minutes later the next morning. Yay for me!

I took this picture of Nathan while we were stopped in traffic on the way home. I love how he has his hands behind his head. So cute. We had such a wonderful time. Thank you so much Erin for opening your house to us. We're ready to come back!

Summer is Here!

Tuesday was a beautiful day! It was hot and perfect for swimming. Our pool is still a bit chilly, but Kelly has a small pool that even has a slide! So we...I mean Nathan...put on his swimsuit and headed over to Kelly's house. This is the first time this summer that he's been in a pool, but he was like a little fish!

After swimming for a while, Marla gave them each water guns that she picked up at the store. Boy was that a hit! There were a few rules though, 1. No shooting a mommy 2. No shooting each other in the face, and 3. Don't put it in your mouths. Rules 2 and 3 went out the window from the very beginning :)

Even though Kelly squirted him in the face, he laughed and thought it was fun!

The only way Nathan could make his work was to use two hands. He always had the gun pointed at his face when he squirted it! It was so funny!

So let's just stick to Rule #1...no shooting a Mommy! Other than that, do whatever you want to do!

Nathan is ready for summer and for swimming! I can't wait to be able to use our own pool now!

Here is a video of Nathan sliding, splashing, and then having a little fall :)
