Visiting Mamaw and Meme

Last weekend, we took Nathan and Charlotte to see Wayne's grandmothers. Helen came over Thursday morning (with breakfast!) and then we loaded everyone up in our car and headed out. Nathan was in the best mood and was so excited to have everyone with him in the car. Plus Grandmother brought us lots of snacks :)

Mamaw is Helen's mom and lives in Winnsboro which is only about 2 hours from Frisco so we stopped there first. Even though Nathan hadn't seen Mamaw in a while, he was his usual friendly, outgoing self, and walked right in like a big boy giving her a big hug and kiss.

Nathan sure wasn't shy!

Mamaw loved seeing Charlotte for the first time.

And Charlotte gave her lots of smiles!

While we were visiting with Mamaw, Nathan kept himself occupied by playing with the mirror. Here, he's showing his "wrestling" face.

And, now that we have Charlotte, Nathan loves to pretend that he's a baby too...her car seat is Nathan's newest toy :)

After visiting in Mamaw's apartment for a while, she then took us for a tour of the rest of her building.

Nathan stayed right with her and was sure to say hi to all of her friends.

Here is the outside living area. There's even a big screen TV above the outdoor fireplace! When we left, Nathan gave more hugs and kisses and was so sweet.

As soon as we started driving again, Nathan fell asleep so we drove for another 1 1/2hours to Texarkana where we stopped for lunch. And then we finished the trip to El Dorado. Both Nathan and Charlotte were great travelers! Nathan is pretty happy in the car as long as he has his snacks and movies!

Meme was so happy to see us and meet Charlotte.

Meme and Charlotte (of course Charlotte had to spit up on her cute dress right before I take pictures).

Once again, Nathan made himself right at home and walked up and down the halls talking to everyone. At one point, he just sat on the floor in front of Meme's room waving to anyone who walked past :)

After seeing Meme, we went to Uncle Mike and Aunt Cathy's house for dinner. Nathan had the best time there because they have a room for their grand kids to stay in when they visit that has tons of toys in it. Nathan was quick to take out every single toy he could find!

The next morning, we left pretty early to head back to Texas. Wayne and Helen had a few things they needed to do before leaving so Nathan and I spent some time at the park.

I swear Nathan makes a new friend everywhere we go. Here he is with Chandler. He was swinging by himself so Nathan went up to him and said, "You can play with me if you want to." How cute is that?!

Nathan and Grandmother on the way home.

He's just like his Mommy! As soon as I get in the car, I want to take a nap too! Although our trip was quick, it was a lot of fun. I'm so glad Nathan and Charlotte were able to see their great grandmothers, and it was also neat to be back in El Dorado. We drove by both of our old houses and told Nathan that's where we used to live...I don't think he really got it :) It did bring back a lot of memories though!

Charlotte is 2 Months Old!

I can't believe it's already been two months! These last two months have been hectic, a bit overwhelming, but also wonderful! Our little Charlotte is growing so much and has made all of us so happy. How did we get so lucky? Here are a few of Charlotte's birthday pictures.

There's my smiling baby! And here are a few outtakes...This was a bit of a crazy morning. I thought I'd take Charlotte's picture while Nathan was busy playing with his trains, but then he heard us and decided he wanted to help. He really meant well, but...it was easier when he was playing trains :)

Nathan broke the elastic strap on the hat, so I was trying to take Charlotte's picture by just balancing the hat on her head. Every time it fell off, Nathan was right there to put it back on, but kept pushing it on her head a little too hard (or bumping her or stepping on her while he was trying to sit next to her). Maybe next time, I'll wait until it's Nathan's nap time :)

Today was Charlotte's 2 month checkup which means shots! Nathan was so sweet and helped me get Charlotte ready this morning to go to the doctor. He kept telling Charlotte not to cry and that he would hold her hand. He even got out his toy shot and practiced on her :) While the doctor was examining her, he pulled up a stool and stood on it and watched. He is such a sweet big brother.

My big boy reading a book while we wait for the doctor.

Poor little girl doesn't realize what's about to come :(

Charlotte with Dr. Guetersloh

After I took Charlotte's picture, Nathan said, "My turn!" and hopped right up on Dr. G's lap. Then he gave him a high five and a fist bump! Daddy would have been proud to see Nathan do the fist bump, then blow it up...oh and he did sound effects too!

Charlotte got a good report although she does have her first cold! Nathan got one two days ago and now baby Charlotte has it :( Charlotte now weighs 12.3 lbs (75%) and is 23 inches long (75%). She smiles all the time now and has even started to laugh some. And she is such a wonderful sleeper! I feed her for the last time around 10, and she sleeps until 6:30 or 7:00 every morning. After I feed her first thing in the morning, she goes back to sleep for another 2 hours which gives me time to get Nathan up and both of us fed and dressed. So far, life is still good...if only I could get Nathan 100% potty trained!

Fishing With Daddy

Last weekend, Wayne took Nathan to get his very own fishing pole. It is the perfect size for him and it has Buzz Lightyear on it which Nathan loves! To start out the fishing lessons, Wayne put the rubber fish that came with it on the end of the pole. Wayne only had to show Nathan a few times how to cast it and reel it in. Pretty soon he was doing it all by himself. And where is the perfect place to practice???? Off the balcony of course! He also practiced in the pool.

The bench was Nathan's idea :)

The next morning, Wayne took Nathan on a real fishing trip. Nathan was SO excited! They packed some snacks, drinks and bait for the fish (meatballs and a leftover peanut butter sandwich) and walked to the pond in our neighborhood. I stayed home with Charlotte because we were worried it would be too hot for her, but I heard all about it when they got back!

Nathan caught two fish! Wayne said that he threw the line out to the middle and then handed the pole to Nathan to do the rest. When the fish bit the line, Nathan reeled it in "all myself." He was so proud of himself for catching two fish, and he thought it was funny that they liked meatballs! When they came home, Nathan said, "Mommy, I caught TWO (he really emphasised the two) brim fish all myself!" Now Daddy has a fishing buddy :)

Magic Time Machine

On Saturday night, we took Nathan and Charlotte to The Magic Time Machine. It's a restaurant designed for kids where different fairy tale characters wait on you. Nathan loves movies so we were hoping he would see some characters that he recognized. I told him that we might see Cinderella there, and he could not wait! It's so cute to me that even though he is all boy playing with his trains and cars and wrestling with Daddy, he really does like watching Cinderella! Sometimes he'll put his flip flops on and run down the hall, kick one off, and say, "Oh no! I lost my slipper." And then he'll tell me he wants to play Snow White. That's when we lay on the couch and whoever is snow white has to pretend that they're sleeping and then the other one (the prince) will kiss Snow White and wake her up...Nathan always wants to be Snow White and he's very dramatic about waking up, stretching, and then singing :)

While we waited on our table, we played some games upstairs.

"Daddy, I just saw Woody!"

"And I might see Cinderella!"

We got lucky because Snow White was actually our waitress. Nathan was actually a little shy and didn't talk to her as much as I thought he would. He just kept smiling at her and then would tuck his head behind Daddy :) During dinner we saw all sorts of characters walking by, including Cinderella, but Nathan never got to meet her. So after dinner, I asked him if he wanted to walk around and try to find her. He said, "Yes Mommy, she's so pretty." When we finally found her, she was so sweet to Nathan, and he was so giggly! It was so funny to see him be so shy!

How cute is this picture?!

Nathan's Trip to Austin

Last week, Nathan had his first trip away from us. He went to visit Auntie Carrie and Uncle Chris in Austin from Thursday through Monday! Wayne and I were a little worried about how he would do being away from us, but after hearing all of the fun things he got to do with Carrie, we didn't worry a bit! He was spoiled rotten! Here are some pictures of all of their activities, with Carrie writing about them... For some reason, Days 3 and 4 got switched when I was publishing them and I can't figure out how to fix it, so posts 3 and 4 are out of order.

We started our "Austin Adventures" with the Inner Space Caverns. It's a huge underground cave that you can walk in and explore. I was hoping he wouldn't get scared or get tired of walking...it was an hour long tour!

Ummmm....he LOVED it!

He did so well with the walking tour! He kept "waving" to people in our group with his pointer finger...so cute!

This is what we saw all during our tour.

Silly boy! He's hanging upside down like the bats we saw!

After the tour we went to the gift shop. He loved looking at all of the neat rocks! I told him he could pick out one thing from the gift shop....he picked out a little flashlight that had his name on it. He loved his flashlight!

We then came home and relaxed with a movie. Otis is his "little buddy."

He ate such a good dinner that night....pasta, green beans, and apple sauce! I told Ashley he ate a lot of green beans and she asked how I got him to eat them. I told Nathan that green beans make you run fast...ha!

Then he swam....I mean took a bath....in my big bathtub!

Does he look tired to you???? He went right to sleep. I slept with Nathan in our guest room. Sweet boy!
