Sold!

Our house sold! It actually sold a few weeks ago, but I wanted to wait until the final closing just to be sure everything went through. And we also found our new house! We closed on our house last Wednesday and then on the new house on Friday. The previous owners are already out of our new house, but we don't have to move from here until the 2nd, which is nice because that gives us time to get packed, and do a little fixing up at the new house.

Helen, Wayne's mom, stayed with us last week to help us get a head start on the packing.

"Mommy, I'm a big help araen't I? I can't wait to see my new house!"

Nathan always loved opening the cabinet doors and pulling out whatever was inside. He could have a million new toys, but Tuperware is always more fun. Anyway, while Nathan was asleep, we got all of the contents packed up. When he woke up, he crawled into the kitchen and was a bit surprised to find them empty. He would open the cabinet and scream and then close it and open it again thinking maybe something would be in there. But by the time I got my camera, he just thought it was funny.

Gymboree Fun

Gymboree is a huge part of our week. We go every Monday and we both look forward to our day out! We missed last week because Nathan and I were both under the weather, but he made up for lost time today!

As soon as we walk into the playroom, Nate is off exploring! He loves crawling on and off of this mat. And you know what a bouncer Mr. Nate is...well this is perfect for him! He bounces up and down and then throws himself forward to land on his tummy.

A fun activity that we do each week is "Pushing the Log." It's a big inflatable log that the kids roll back and forth. This was actually the first time that Nathan really wanted to do it. He usually stands by the log, but once it starts rolling, he stops and crawls away. But this time he helped roll it all the way across the room!

Nathan is not scared of anything! He crawled up this slide to get Gymbo the Clown.

I think his plan was to kidnap Gymbo...he grabbed Gymbo's leg and then scooted back down the slide with him.

And each week, we all sit on the parachute while the teacher goes around blowing bubbles for each baby. Nathan always tries to grab them in the air and then crawls around to find bubbles on the ground to try to pick up.

This picture is to show you his latest ouchy. See the line in the middle of his forehead? He was standing while holding onto one of our French doors, lost his balance, and hit his head right on the edge. As soon as he did it, there was a huge whelp, and the bruise was already forming. He only cried for a short time, but I completely lost it! I felt so horrible for him, and it looked so much worse than it actually was.

There he goes up another slide. This is why I worry about him! He'll do anything!

And of course, he had to try the soft obstacle course which he completed successfully! At the end is a wedge piece that slopes down. Nathan loved crawling really fast down that part!

And when it's time to leave, I get all of our stuff packed up and he plays here with his friends until I'm ready. I usually have to pry his fingers open when it's time to leave :)

More of Nathan

Last week my niece, Alexandra, came to visit. Nathan loves being with Alexandra and she is so sweet with him. We had the best time together!

One morning we went to Mama and Papa's house. Alexandra and Nathan had some cuddle time on the couch.

Nathan always has a treat waiting for him when we visit Mama and Papa. Today's treat was Tapioca pudding which he couldn't get enough of! I think Cookie was hoping Alexandra might drop a bit or two.

Alexandra had rented the movie "The Nanny Diaries." And Nathan loved watching it too!

This is a video of Nathan showing off his own version of hang gliding :)

Mommy's Little Helper

Today Nathan and I stayed home all day because he's got a cold. I was kind of sad about missing Gymboree, but I thought I'd use the day to get caught up on household chores like laundry and cleaning. Well, Nathan played with his toys for a little while and then I guess he got bored. I had just folded some laundry and was putting it up when I went into his room to find this...

"I don't really use these anymore."

"Let's see here, what else is in this drawer?"

"Oh, and this outfit doesn't fit me anymore, Mommy really needs to put this away."

"I don't think I've ever even worn these shorts."

"Mommy! You scared me! I was just...uhhhh...looking through my drawers..."

"Come on, don't be mad, these really weren't folded that neatly anyway. I was just trying to help you get organized."

Thanks Nate! You're a huge help!

Did Somebody Say Nana?

Nathan LOVES bananas! When I show one to him, he gets so excited and kicks his feet and says "nana." His problem is that he doesn't know portion control. To him, it's the more the better!

"Uh oh, it almost popped out!"

"This is what I call Heaven!" Those cheeks are doing their job huh?

"Are there any more over there?"

11 Months Old!

Our little baby is almost 1 year old! He is growing up so fast. I love his sweet and playful personality, but it does make me kind of sad that he's getting out of his "baby" stage. But he'll always be our sweet baby boy, even when he's all grown up! These cupcake pictures are getting harder and harder to take. I usually do them during the day when Wayne is at work, but he was with us this time. Now he knows I'm not exaggerating when I tell him how hard it is to do these pictures by myself.

He wants to take his hat off, rock in the chair, and then grab the cupcakes. So I thought I'd be a step ahead of him. I super glued the cupcakes to the plate!

"Is something wrong with Dada?"

In order to distract him from taking his hat off, Wayne gave him these bubbles to play with. The goal was to hurry and put the hat on him, then take away the bubbles and have Wayne act like a fool to get him to smile while I took the picture.

As soon as we took the bubbles away, Mr. Nate threw off his hat. He looks like a little angel here doesn't he? Looks are so deceiving! This is a cute picture, except that his hat is gone.

"Daddy, you are so crazy!"

So after about 15 minutes of picture taking, we'll have to settle for this one. Even though the bubbles are in the picture :) Why did they have to be Spongebob bubbles?! Oh and right after I took this one, Nathan lunged for the cupcakes and tipped them over. So much for super glue.

On Saturday, we went to Willow's first birthday party. We had so much fun, and Willow loved Nathan. She kept giving him hugs! It was so sweet. As an appetizer, Nathan snacked on celery and loved it! Happy Birthday Willow!

Splashing Around with Mama and Papa

Mama and Papa's house is the place to be! Whenever Nathan goes for a visit, he's sure to have a good time. He explores the house, plays with Cookie, and gets tons of attention. It must feel so good to be completely adored!

Mama always gives Nathan a little treat from her secret drawer. Now Nathan knows just where it is. He crawled over to it, opened it, and helped himself to a cracker :)

Mama and Papa live right by a great splash park that Nathan loves to visit. They take his walker and he just cruises through the sprinklers. This time it was Papa's turn to get wet while Mama relaxed and watched.

"Papa, you better go fast or you're going to get wet!"

"Hey, how's it going?"

"Just follow me Papa."

"Right foot, left foot, right foot..."

"Look out Mama, here I come!"

"This water is a bit cold, but I can take it."

"Mama, look at me!"

"Mama, it's your turn next time!"

After playing in the water, it was time to swing.

"I may look serious, but I'm having so much fun. Don't even try to take me home yet."

"Papa, I know it's late, but I don't want to leave!"

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

On Monday night, we took my mom and dad to the Frisco Rough Riders baseball game. This was my dad's father's day present. Now that Mom and Dad are officially Texans, we thought this was the perfect way to initiate them :) The only problem was that the Rough Riders were playing against the Arkansas Travelers so Daddy had a little trouble knowing who to root for...that was on purpose :)

This was Nathan's very first ballgame!

Nathan's just one of the guys!

The baseball experience just isn't complete without ballpark junk food. We wasted no time getting started. Our first treat was peanuts!

"I wish I could have some peanuts, but I guess I'll settle for Cheerios."

I was a little nervous about how Nathan would be sitting through the game. What if he doesn't want to sit on our laps and just wants to get down and crawl? Well, he was absolutely perfect! We all took turns holding him, and he kept all of the other people around us very entertained by his cheering and clapping.

And when Nathan seemed to get a little antsy, Papa took him to walk around. They are at the fence next to the kids.

Nathan loved watching everyone and everything going on. Whenever the crowd would cheer, he would do the same thing! It was so funny because sometimes he was a little late with his clapping. Everyone would be somewhat quiet and then you'd see Nathan clapping his hands and yelling "Yay!" Everyone around us kept laughing at him. He really put on a show!

"I love my Papa."

And since this was Nate's first baseball game, Papa bought him his first baseball cap. Nathan has always been really good about keeping his hats on, but that night, he just wanted to play with it.

Every baseball player needs to get re-hydrated right?
"You all can have your junk food, I've got milk!"

Although this picture may not look like much, it's got a great story. See the guy in the red baseball hat towards the front? He's a security guard who is in charge of the man in front of him (brown shirt and bald spot). That's Nolan Ryan! He is considered one of the best pitchers of all time and is baseball's all time leader in strike outs. I didn't know this at the time, but Wayne and Dad filled me in. Long story short: He's a big deal!

And since this was Nathan's first baseball game, I thought it would be so neat to get him to autograph Nathan's new hat. The only problem was the security guards. We kept watching people going down for autographs and being stopped and turned away. But Wayne and my mom thought it would be a piece of cake for me if I took Nathan with me. He wouldn't turn away a mommy and baby right? Well I wasn't so sure, and I can't stand rejection of any sort so I really didn't want to try it. But they kept pressuring and pressuring me! I just said "Maybe I'll try later." Well then there was a little break in the game while the teams switched and we were all standing up. Mom and Wayne said that was my chance and they physically PUSHED me out of the aisle! Half of me didn't want to go, but half of me really wanted to do it for Nathan.
See the little bit of yellow at the very front? That's me! Nathan is with me but you can't see him. Wayne told me not to go in front because there was another security guard right there at the edge, but to slip in behind Nolan and tap him on the arm before the other guard could see me. That's just what I did! Right when I tapped him and said that this was my baby's first baseball game, the security guard leaned over quickly and told me "Not Now!" rather sternly. He was very harsh (probably embarrassed that I was able to get past him) but Mr. Ryan was so sweet and said "Of course I'll sign his hat." I rambled on about how I hope Nathan grows up to love baseball and Nathan started saying "Dada." Anyway, he was very sweet to us and I'm so excited I got the autograph! Mom, Dad, and Wayne were very proud of me too! After I left, the security guard moved closer to the aisle so no one could get past him again :)

We stayed a few more innings, but Nathan was starting to fade.

Look at those heavy eyes.

But then he got a second wind!

And here is Nolan Ryan leaving. He was walking kind of fast so the picture is a bit blurry. Too bad Nathan can't wear his hat now. We're going to frame it with the ticket stubs and program. But I'm going to go get him another hat to actually wear :)

Here we are leaving the game. What a fun night!

"It is way past my bedtime, but I had so much fun! When's our next outing?"
