Where's Nathan?

Nathan loves to hide while we pretend to search for him. Usually, he'll hide somewhere really hard to find...like on the floor curled up in a ball. Wayne and I will call out his name trying to find him, and when he's ready to be found, he'll jump up and say "Here I am!" Now he likes to hide behind things, under covers or pillows, or with one of us while the other one tries to find him. And when he's ready to be found, he SCREAMS really loudly and excitedly! It's so funny, and even a little scary!

And yes, that was the back of Nathan's head hitting the bed as Daddy pulled him up :)

Austin Weekend

I'm a little behind on my blog entries. We went to Austin two weeks ago to attend the funeral of Wayne's great uncle. The funeral was actually in New Braunfels which is only 1 1/2 hours away from Austin, so we spent the weekend with Carrie and Chris and then all went to New Braunfels together. I'm behind in my entries because I am a complete scatter brain lately! I left my credit card and camera battery charger at Carrie's house and then left my CAMERA at Wayne's family's house! So I had to take a "blog vacation" while everyone was gathering all of my belongings to send to me :)

Nathan had a new bruise to show off on our trip. I swear I CANNOT keep him from getting hurt! Even when he's doing the most innocent things, he finds a way to bang some part of his body, and I feel like I'm always having to "explain" his bruises! The latest one that you can kind of see in the following pictures is his first black eye. It doesn't look as bad in these pictures as it did a few days before. Nathan and I were playing on the couch, and he stood up to jump on me, but ended up jumping too far and hit the side of his face on the arm of the couch. It's padded, but I guess not enough. I know he's a boy and that he's going to get hurt, but that doesn't make it any easier on me. It really does hurt me more than it hurts him...he was ready to do the same thing again 5 minutes later. No more jumping on the couch Mr. Nathan!!!

Can you see his shiner? It's under his left eye.

Who's going to get the ball first? You know you both want it!

On Saturday morning, we got ready to head to New Braunfels. Doesn't Nathan look handsome?

Nathan loved showing off and being the greeter at the funeral. He really lightened the mood and made everyone smile. During the service, Nathan and I played outside and explored the different rooms of the church. Oh and we had to make a quick run to Walgreens because I noticed that I didn't have any diapers in my bag! I did pack them, but remembered Nathan pulling a few out right before we left Carrie's house. I thought to myself "I should put those back in my bag right now...I'll just do it in a minute...first I need to fix Nathan a snack..." And of course, I forgot.
After the service, we all went to a reception room for drinks and desserts. Nathan sampled every cookie there was, said hi to everyone he could get to talk to him, showed almost everyone his cute little tummy, danced, and pretty much did anything he could to get attention. He was in the best mood! Then Carrie and I took him outside to run around...and take more pictures.

Nate and Auntie Carrie

"I love your earrings Auntie Carrie. I think Mommy should borrow them :)"

We then headed to Debbie and Fred's house for some family time. While I was getting all of our things organized and fixing Nathan a drink, Carrie said she would take care of Nathan. When I got back, this is what I found! Nathan was soaked but having so much fun!

Luckily I had a change of clothes for Nathan. That's what Aunts are for right? They let you do all of the fun things that Mommies don't!

Nathan's only nap that day was in the morning, on the way to New Braunfels. I was so worried that he would be very grouchy as the day wore on and tried to get him to take a second nap, but he wouldn't. I think he was worried he'd miss out on something fun. We didn't head back to Austin until 9:00 that night! Surprisingly though, Nathan stayed happy the whole time. He did fall asleep as soon as we turned the car on. We really had a wonderful time, and I'm just hoping that I can get my head together and stop forgetting things!

Picnic Lunch

Kelly invited Nathan and Brock to her house yesterday for a picnic lunch of pizza, grapes, and juice boxes! The kids played inside for a while, but once the pizza was delivered, they couldn't wait to dig in. Nathan has had pizza before and loves it of course. I normally cut it up for him, but decided to see how he'd do with a whole piece. As you can see in the first picture, he did just fine. In fact, Nathan ate his whole piece and then swiped Brock's when he wasn't looking!

After lunch, Brock, Nathan, and Kelly played outside some more. Nathan got into mischief though. Since it's been really warm the past couple of days, Kelly swam in her plastic pool the day before. There was still a little bit of water left in it, so Nathan had fun throwing toys, balls, plastic rakes, really anything he could get his hands on, into the pool and splashing the water everywhere. I caught him once trying to climb in! Don't worry though, there was just enough water to cover the bottom...but still enough to get his clothes completely soaked. I guess he's ready for summer!

A Day at the Arboretum

Mama, Nathan, and I spent the day together last week. We had brunch at Le Peep and then headed to the Arboretum. Nathan was a good little boy during brunch and used his sweet manners. Every time the waitress brought us something, he said "thank you" to her! And when she finally brought us our food, Nathan said "YES!" really big and nodded his head over and over. I guess the little guy was really hungry...he ate most of his food, plus he helped himself to our food. On our way out, Nathan said "Bye-Bye" to all of the other customers.

The Arboretum was beautiful, and it was the perfect day. Nathan loved looking at all of the flowers, but what he loved most was running around and chasing any animal he saw!

These next pictures are funny because they show Nathan in action:
Nathan's getting his running start...
Going...
Going...
Gone! "Bye Mommy!"
Nathan also met a few friends that he enjoyed playing with :)
And this is what he does when he wants an animal to come to him...usually he kneels while holding his hands like this and says "Here doggie, doggie."
"These grapes are still clean aren't they?" Next we headed to the huge water fountains. I prepared myself to let Nathan run through it if he wanted to, but luckily he was fine with just sticking his hands in the water and watching the other kids get soaked!

Here he goes dropping his snacks again. I guess he likes to feed the birds.
And himself. He just doesn't get the concept that once something falls on the ground, you shouldn't eat it.

Once again, Nathan found more friends to play with.

Here are a couple of videos of Nathan doing what he loves most...running!
