Nathan and Kelly

Nate and I met Marla and Kelly for a playdate at the Willowbend Mall last week. We had so much fun because the play area is soft and perfect for little explorers and especially one who has no fear (Nathan). Kelly loves being with "Ashes" and "Tate." She is always so sweet to him.

And these pictures are from last week when Kelly and Marla came over to swim. Afterwards, we gave them a bath together!

Playing Outside

Nathan and I spent some time outside a few days ago, and this is what he was thinking:

"My tummy's growling....I need a snack."

"Hey Mommy! How about some Cheerios?"

"Mmmmm......this really hits the spot."

"Hey! I think there's a hole in the top of my cup..."

"Yup! Mommy, there really IS a hole in the top!"

"Guess what....if I turn my cup over, the Cheerios fall out."

"Oh my GOSH!!! What was I thinking??!!"

"Mommy, I saw on T.V. that Cheerios help lower your cholesterol....I'm just starting early."

"Quick! Guess which side my Cheerios are on."

"This was the BEST day ever. I love you mommy."

Visiting Grandma

Not only have my mom and dad moved here, but my grandma lives here too! Every Monday after Gymboree, we go to Grandma's apartment to visit. Nathan loves being with Grandma, and she loves being with him. Nathan just makes everyone happy! The sweetest thing is watching Nathan walk over to Grandma to lay his head down on her lap to give her a hug. So sweet.

On this day, Grandma had a little treat waiting for us, Vanilla Wafers!

Nate sure wasn't shy about making himself right at home with a yummy snack.

Grandma held and played with him...and found the way to his heart was with Nilla Wafers :)

"Just one more Grandma?"

And then, he and Grandma played Patty Cake. Nathan clapped his hands so hard and wide! It was so cute to watch. We'll see you next Monday Grandma, same time, same place! And we can't wait to see what treat you'll have for us then!

Our Weekend

I'm not sure why, but Nathan LOVES the laundry room. If I leave the door open just a crack, he finds his way to it and in he goes. He could be in the living room playing with me and then all of a sudden he crawls away. When I follow after him, he's making his way into the forbidden room. It's like he can sense I forgot to close the door all the way! Anyway, on this day, I was fixing Nathan (and me) a snack and I heard him crawl away from his toys...this is what I found.

I snuck up on him! He was playing with the trash can again :)

So I thought, since he loves this room so much, why not put him to work? I would give him clothes from the washing machine, and showed him how to put them in the dryer. It worked! I thought , wow this is great!

But then he started taking out what we put in. I spent the next few minutes chasing him around trying to get the wet socks from him. I guess he is a little too young for chores, but at least I tried.

Later that night, Nathan, Wayne, and Doggy settled on the couch to watch the closing ceremony of the Olympics.

Nathan had a cracker to munch on and now loves sharing his food.

"You can have a bite Daddy."

"And you too, doggy."

And I'm a bit jealous of this, but Wayne has taught him how to give kisses! He always gives them to Wayne! It's more like an open mouth lick, but still so sweet. I get them every once in a while. Sometimes though, I think I smell cherry chapstick on Nathan's lips after his kisses, so that might be Wayne's trick :)

Also that night, Nathan had bananas (nanas as he calls them) after his dinner. He's so smart because he was trying to eat them with a fork! That's smart for a 1 year old :)

12 Month Checkup

Nathan had his 12 month doctor's appointment today. He was such a good little boy! He weighs 22 lbs, 12 oz and is in the 50th percentile. He is 30.8 inches long which is the 90th percentile, and is right on target with all of his skills. His doctor asked if he was pointing and talking, and as he asked this Nathan started pointing to my nose and everything else in the room! Plus he showed off his new skill of walking. He got two shots but only cried a little bit.

I know you're probably tired of seeing birthday pictures, but here are a few more that my friend Robin took. I don't know why the first four are so small, but I got frustrated trying to enlarge them so you'll just have to squint to see them :)

Sweet little Nathan with his kissable cheeks!

Can you see his blue tongue?

Ok, so that should be all of the birthday pictures until next year!
