Happy Halloween 2016

Halloween was so much fun this year. I took Nathan and Charlotte to a Halloween store and let them pick out their own costumes. Charlotte knew she wanted something pretty and Nathan wanted to be Batman or Spider Man. Charlotte found the prettiest dress and it fit her perfectly. She loved that it was long and sparkly! Nathan found a batman costume but it was way too big. Then he found Spider Man and was so happy it fit! We actually decorated the outside, but of course, I forgot to take pictures. We put tombstones in the front yard with skeleton bodies, wrapped the trees with caution tape, and put spider webs on the bushes. It looked pretty good, but wasn't just great. Well, I'm so glad I kept my opinion to myself because Nathan and Charlotte thought it was absolutely wonderful!!!! They were so proud of it and Nathan said we might just get Yard of the Month! It was so sweet how proud he was of it!

We got invited to go Trick or Treating with a friend of Nathan's in the neighborhood. Several other families were going to meet at Jaxon's house too so I thought Nathan would be so happy. At first, Nathan wasn't too excited. I was so confused because he really loves the boys that we were going with. He told me that he was kind of worried about it because he really likes his costume but knew the other boys were going to be something scary and was afraid they might think he was a "baby" for dressing like Spider Man. I offered to get him a different costume if he wanted but he didn't want to do that. So I reassured him that these boys like him so much and I knew they wouldn't make fun of him. I told him to be Spider Man and be proud of it if that's what he really wants to be. That day after school. I heard another boy ask him what he was dressing up as and he said he was a Zombie Spider Man...I guess that was his way of making his costume seem more scary :)  After he got dressed that night, he was so excited and loved his costume. And of course, the other boys didn't say a thing. They were just happy to all be together.

And Charlotte LOVED her dress! I did her make-up and curled her hair, and she felt like a real princess! She looked so pretty! When Wayne got home, we walked over to Jaxon's house and met 2 other families there. We had so much fun trick or treating together. The boys were so cute! And I ended up seeing so many of my students trick or treating too!

Fall Football

Nathan plays flag football and absolutely LOVES it! He is obsessed with football! He wants to watch it, play it, talk about it, everything! We just love his team. All of the boys and their families are so wonderful. The coaches especially are great. The Patriots have improved so much since last year! Nathan is a receiver and is so fast. He has gotten even better at making touchdowns, catching passes, and running as fast as he can! During the 2nd to last game, the other team was up by a few points and were about to score another touchdown with just a minute left. Well, superstar Nathan intercepted the ball and ran it back for a touchdown! Because of that, we won the game! It was such a great moment because we knew how happy he was. It was like he just won the Super Bowl for everyone! I think he talked about that play all weekend. So on Saturday, we were loading up the car for his very last game. This first picture is what I saw when I walked out the door! I just about died! He told me he was praying that he would have a good game, get a touchdown, and pull some flags. Well, I guess that prayer worked. It was his best game ever! He made two rushing touchdowns, caught 1 long pass for a touchdown, got an interception, and pulled 4 flags! They won their game 37-7! So proud of him!

Excuse the Disorganization

I am now a working mom which means I have very little time! I absolutely love my job and being back in the classroom but it has been hard to balance work and family and do a good job at both. I feel like I have to give work more of my time now so that I make a good impression. So I'm doing a great job there and a mediocre job at home. The good thing is that Wayne has been so understanding, and Nathan and Charlotte too. They are so happy to see me everyday at school. So they forgive me when I forget to pack a lunch or leave a library book at home. That is also why my blog posts are so out of order. I have the beginning of school happening in October! I'll get in a routine sooner or later. One bonus to me working is that I get a maid!!!! She starts on Friday! HALLELUJAH!

Texas State Fair

The fair was so much fun! We went right after one of Nathan's football games and spent the whole day there. We ate way too much...I'll tell you more about that later. Nathan and Charlotte have always loved playing the games so Wayne gave them a certain amount they could spend. Nathan picked out the sports games like throw the football through the tiny opening and the basketball one where the balls are extra bouncy and the hoops are tiny...the ones that no one wins. In fact, we watched a few people try those games and never win! Wayne tried to talk him out of doing them so he wouldn't waste his money, but Nathan was determined to play. Well, he ended up throwing the football perfectly through the hole AND the basketball in the hoop! It was crazy! Even the carnival guy couldn't believe it! Charlotte picked a few easier games and won also. So we ended up carrying around a prize football and basketball and two stuffed animals the rest of the day. It was fine though because they were so excited! They did a few rides but really just loved going in the fun houses. We also went to the car show and I picked out the new car I wanted :) Once we left, Wayne and I were kind of hungry (hard to believe) but we wanted some real food. So we decided to go to Snuffers, home of the best cheese fries ever. They are so good and fattening that we only go here about once a year. Wayne and I devoured them. At the fair we had nachos, corn dogs, popcorn, and a fried snickers, but really the kids ate most of it and we just had a few bites. So at dinner, Nathan had some of our cheese fries and then he said he wasn't feeling too good. Nathan has big eyes for food but actually has a very sensitive stomach. At the end of dinner, he said he was about to throw up and was covering his mouth. I swear I thought he was going to throw up right there and was trying to give him my french fry basket, but I knew he didn't want to at the table. So I said just run to the bathroom. I really did not think he would make it, but he got up covering his mouth and was speed walking to the bathroom. Wayne followed him and it he actually did make it! When he came back, he said he felt so much better! And he was so happy he didn't throw up in front of everyone!!!
