Super Citizen

Nathan was chosen as Super Citizen for this 9 weeks! Only 2 kids from each class each nine weeks get chosen. And he got it last year too. His teachers emailed me the week before that they chose him. I was reading the email and when it said he got it, I was so excited for him that I immediately announced it to the whole family. Then I read on that it was supposed to be a surprise...oops! On the morning of the award, we had to get up early to get ready because the assembly was first thing in the morning. Poor Charlotte was still half asleep. At the assembly, they call the kids up one at a time and give them a certificate. Nathan was so proud.
After the assembly, charlotte and I had some time before she had to be at school so we went out for donuts. So that made it worth it for her...she is not a morning person!

The Rockin' Tale of Snow White

Nathan is always doing lots of sports. Mainly soccer but has signed up for flag football too this year. I love that he plays sports and is active but Wayne and I also thought that he should try some other things. And because he can be such a funny character at home, we thought drama would be perfect for him! His school has an after-school Drama group called Encore Kids that has new sessions each nine weeks. When We asked Nathan if he wanted to try it, he was actually very excited about it. Kids from all grade levels can join so I thought it was nice that Nathan was in a group with new and different kids for him to get to know. They met every Monday after school until 4:00 in order to practice for the play that they would perform in at the end of their session.

When it first started, he was given a script and several lines to memorize to try out for different parts. He memorized one of the dwarf's part because that's what he thought would be fun. Well, he ended up doing so well that they gave him the part of Prince Charming AND the Hunstman! Part of me was so proud of him and then the other part of me was thinking about all of the lines he would have to memorize!

Nathan ended up really enjoying the class and had a lot of fun practicing for the play. They only thing he didn't like was practicing his lines outside of school. Especially when the play got closer, I was having him run his lines every day.

On the day of the play, Carrie and Pearce came up, and Grandmother, Mama and Papa all went with us to watch it. Nathan was nervous but he did such a good job. He remembered all of his lines! They announced that registration was open for the next session so I asked Nathan if he wanted to sign up again to do a different play. He said no thank you.

Mama and Papa's House

During Spring Break, I got a little treat. It happened that Wayne had to go out of town for 2 days so Nathan and Charlotte went to Mama and Papa's house to spend the day and night and I got to have the whole house to myself for 24 hours...just me!!! It was heaven! I got caught up on all of my shows, ate junk food, and really just relaxed. I made myself not do anything that required a lot of thinking or physical activity, because that never happens here! I'm sure I could have used the time more efficiently like cleaning the house or organizing, but I kind of just wanted to be lazy. And it was wonderful!

Plus Nathan and Charlotte had fun with Mama and Papa. They did their usual activity which is making cookies and orange juliuses. Then Papa and Nathan went to Cabela's which is a sporting goods store to get worms for fishing. It's like Bass Pro so there are tons of things for little boys to see and do there! Charlotte got a man/pedi from Mama, and they also played golf and went fishing! It was a busy day and night for them but they had the best time. Papa got a new TV for their room that Nathan thought was so cool. He was so excited to see that it had Netflix on it...in his room! Plus he could play Angry Birds Space using the remote as the controller. Thank you Mama and Papa for having such a great time with Nathan and Charlotte and for giving me a mini vacation!

More Snow Days

These pictures are from our second set of snow days when Pearce was here. The weather station said we may get snow but I really didn't think it would be that much snow! Carrie and Pearce were in town because mom was having a brunch for her friends Friday morning. Charlotte and I were going and mom said she wished her friends could meet Carrie too. Well it just so happened that she didn't have anything planned so she came on up.

On Thursday, we met a chick fil a when they got into town. Pearce was so excited to see "Nay Nay" and "Sarlet."

On Friday, nathan went to school and charlotte and I got ready for the party. As soon as we left our house, the snow was falling. And not just a little bit, it was really coming down! By the time we got to mama's house, it was all over the place! Mama had such a nice party. We met all of her friends and they were really sweet. They went on and on about how much they loved mom. And then mom told us the next week that her friends went on and on about how much they liked us and Charlotte and Pearce!

Charlotte really had fun being able to have Pearce all to herself. The two of them played and stuck together at Mama's party. Pearce was a little naughty though. the two of them would come out to see everyone and get a little snack and then they would go back into their room and play. Carrie and I realized that we hadn't seen them in a while and went to check on them. Pearce was on one of the beds with a bottle of baby lotion! He had squeezed it all out and it was ALL over him, the bed, and splattered on the wall!I tried not to laugh because Carrie was not happy...but it was kind of funny. I couldn't believe that Charlotte didn't come tell us but she didn't want to get Pearce in trouble. Oh well, we got it all cleaned up. After the brunch ended, We bundled up and headed outside in the snow. Charlotte and Pearce had so much fun! They made snow angels and then Papa found a huge tarp that he had them sit on so he could pull them on the "sled." They were so cute.

After Mama and Papa's house, we all drove to my house to pick up Nathan. His school ended up letting the kids out early. He was one happy boy when he saw all of us! This was two weeks ago, and today was 80 degrees! Texas weather is crazy but fun!

Random Pictures

These first pictures are from Skylar's birthday party on Valentine's Day. Nathan ended up having pink eye in BOTH eyes! So he and Wayne had to stay home, but Daddy took him to McDonalds and to Gamestop to get a new DS game so he wouldn't feel bad about missing.

This is an example of a school project Nathan had to make. They were doing a western unit and the kids had to make a WANTED poster to put on their locker. It had to have their crime, where they were last seen, a reward, and a picture. Nathan and I came up with all sorts of ideas but finally settled on this one...I can't believe that I didn't take a picture of the final product. But I'll type out what it said and then you can see the pictures we took.

WANTED!
Nintendo Nathan
For the crime of Excessive Use of Technology
Last seen at Gamestop
Reward: 100,000 gold coins

We used the last picture. It was so cute!

And this is Nathan's latest math test. He had been having a little bit of trouble with multi-step problems but he worked really hard after school with me and on his own practicing what he was learning in school. When Nathan brought this math test home, he was so proud of himself!!! Of course, Wayne and I were too, and what was really great, was the note his teacher wrote. He loves his teachers and loves to impress them as well.

Charlotte has been taking selfies without me knowing! She likes to put on lipgloss and then ask to see my phone so she can look at herself in the camera (use it as a mirror), but I ended up finding these pictures of her. She's a cutie!

Here is Charlotte getting her latest haircut. As always, it's perfect and she's a perfect little client. She sits so still for Mr. Anh, and then everyone in the salon thinks she's adorable. It is so funny to me that he treats her just like she were an adult client. Even though she's 4, he is so precise and doesn't rush through her cut. He asked me if any of her friends have bobs, and I told him that some do have bobs, but not "Anh Bobs"

This is her the next day (yes, she wanted to wear the same outfit), but it snowed that day. Her hair still looked perfect even after sleeping on it :)
