Nathan's Music Program 2015

We had two music programs in one week! Charlotte's was Monday and Nathan's was Tuesday. The first graders were divided into 4 groups: Rappers, insects, cowboys and girls, and Dr. Seuss. It sounds random, but they sang songs that had to do with each theme. Nathan was part of Dr. Seuss so he and his friend, Drew, were Thing 1 and Thing 2. I made their shirts and was so happy they turned out ok. We also spray painted their hair blue which made all of their classmates very jealous! At first, Nathan wasn't going to be able to be in the night time performance. He had a soccer game that night scheduled so we let him choose which he wanted to go to. And he said soccer. Luckily, there was a dress rehearsal so I went to that during the day so that I could video the practice version and fix the boys hair. Then Nathan's soccer game ended up getting rained out so we were able to go to the night time one as well! Wayne met us at that one so I was glad he could see it. It was very cute, and Nathan did a great job. One funny thing is that when we were at the dress rehearsal, another little boy that was dressed up as a "Thing" begged us to spray paint his hair too. So we met him at school a little early and made him blue too. They were all so cute together.

Charlotte's Music Program 2015

Charlotte had her first music program at school the week after Easter. I remember Nathan doing this and just freezing when he got on stage. He was so cute though! But Charlotte actually sang all the songs and did the motions and never got stage fright! She looked so sweet up there and kept her hands clasped in front of her like a little choir girl. I got so many compliments on her afterwards from people I didn't even know! Wayne and I are proud parents!!!

Here are some screen shots of pictures I found of Nathan and Charlotte at this same program when he was in the 4 year old class. They are so little!

Happy Easter

I'm just a little behind. I feel like I've been saying that a lot lately! We had a wonderful Easter with Carrie and Pearce. They came up on Friday and boy were all the kids so excited! They always have fun with each other. And Pearce is full of never ending energy! Normally Nathan can keep up, but he actually got a little tired this time which we all thought was funny.
The first thing Nathan and Charlotte wanted to do was go swimming with Pearce. Even though it's April, Nathan and Charlotte have been swimming in our pool for weeks. At first I thought it was way too cold and didn't let them do it. Then I thought I'd let them swim and they would come to that conclusion on their own...nope, it was cold but they said it wasn't too cold. CRAZY! So they wanted Pearce to join in. Well, Pearce was all for it at first. But after getting his feet a little wet, he was outta there! A water gun fight was more his style.
On Saturday, we went to Nathan's soccer game bright and early. When we came back, we got our food ready. We decided to have our big meal on Saturday along with an Easter Egg hunt and coloring eggs. And then Sunday would be church and eating leftovers. We had a honey baked ham, baked beans from Helen, a potato casserole from Mama, and salad and rolls from me. Carrie and I also made these little mini cheesecakes with toasted coconut and chocolate eggs on top. YUMMY!

The Easter Bunny came by Saturday night. Charlotte got a play doh set and a nightgown along with lots of candy. Nathan got an Angry Birds jenga set and a neon green athletic outfit. Both were very happy with the Easter Bunny's choices. After a few pictures, it was off to church we went to meet Grandmother, Mama and Papa.

And I forgot to mention that Auntie Carrie and Nathan played a joke on me. Carrie actually talked Nathan into pushing me into the freezing cold pool! This was Saturday evening.  I was fully dressed and Nathan asked me to help get his water gun. I didn't think twice about leaning over the pool to get it because Nathan and Charlotte were taught at a very young age to NEVER EVER get me wet when I'm in my clothes. I honestly can't believe that Nathan agreed to it because I'm pretty sure I threatened him with severe consequences if I was ever pushed in without consent. Anyway, the next thing I know is that I feel this push and I'm so shocked. I'm trying to keep my balance but I just can't. It was slow motion as I fall headfirst into the pool. The water was numbing. They may think its ok to swim in, but it felt like the Arctic to me. Everyone was laughing and that's all I could do too. It was so crazy, that it was funny. The best part is that since Carrie knew this was going to happen, she recorded the whole thing on her iphone! I'll try to upload the video. An Easter to remember!
