Rough Riders Baseball Game

Last week, my dad, Wayne, and I took Nathan to a Rough Riders (Frisco's team) baseball game. We did invite Mama to go with us, but she decided to stay home with Charlotte...I know she loved being able to have Charlotte all to herself!

Nathan was SO excited about going to the baseball game. He talked about going to the game all day! We also found the hat we bought him two years ago...it was too big for him then, but it fits him perfectly now. This is the hat that we had signed by Nolan Ryan who was actually at the game and sitting just a few rows in front of us!

We had great seats, and Nathan had fun cheering for our team. He did get a bit upset in the beginning when he found out that we were just watching the game. He started crying because he thought that he was going to get to actually play baseball :(

These next pictures are to show all of the junk we ate. It is so sad that I was more excited about all of the junk food than the game! As a group, we had peanuts, popcorn, hot dogs, and nachos. Nathan helped us eat all of the above plus he got Twizzlers and had 2 Capri Suns! I can't believe he didn't get sick! Nathan figured out quickly that having good snacks is a main part of going to the baseball game. After he ate his popcorn and helped me eat my nachos, he leaned over to Papa and said, "I'm ready for another snack." That's when he came back with the Twizzlers...it was so funny to see him eat so much.

First Day of School

Nathan had his first day of "school" on Thursday. It's actually Mother's Day Out at my church, but we call it school :) Nathan is going to go two days a week this year (last year he only went 1 day), and we are both so excited! We spent this last week getting everything ready, and on Tuesday, we went to Open House at the church to meet his teachers and friends. Luckily, a lot of the kids that were in his class last year are in his class again this year too. His teachers seemed so sweet! I was so relieved because we really loved his teachers last year. While Miss April was going over the schedule, Nathan leaned over to me and said, "Mommy, look at her toenails. They're so pretty." He loved that they were red :)

Even though it's a class full of 3 year olds, Miss April used to teach Kindergarten so she is doing a lot of the same things she did at her school. They have calendar time, class jobs, language activities, math, music, chapel, romp, snack time, playground time, and rest time. It is a full day!

Here he is with all of his gear: a nap mat, back pack, lunch box, and stuffed toy to sleep with.

Of course, I carried everything else except for his back pack :)

Is this a cute pose or what?!

And here he is outside of his classroom. The main thing I was worried about was Nathan using the potty in a new place. I thought he might not want to stop having fun to tell his teachers he had to potty, but when I picked him up that afternoon, he was still in the same clothes I dropped him off in and still had on his same underwear, so we didn't have any accidents! Nathan went into his class really happily and was just as excited when I picked him up. His job for the week was to hold the American Flag during the pledge :) I was so happy he had a good day!

Nathan's First (and last) Gymnastics Class

I have been looking for another activity for Nathan to do this year and thought Gymnastics would be perfect for him. He's been to a few birthday parties at gymnastics places and has had so much fun. I figured it would be a good way to use his energy: running, tumbling, jumping on a trampoline, etc... So we signed up for a preview class on Monday. My pictures didn't turn out that great because the kids were kind of far away (the parents sat in a bleacher area to watch) and my flash didn't work. But you'll get the idea :)

I'm sure you can figure out which one is Nathan...he's the ONLY boy!

There were five other little girls in his class. Of course, they were adorable dressed in their cute little leotards and tights and following directions just right. My little boy, on the other hand, started out following directions but really just wanted to run on the bouncy mat! Here he is doing his "finishing" hands before doing a somersault.

After doing other floor routines, the kids got to go to the trampolines. Well, Nathan already jumped on them earlier when he got tired of waiting in line to walk on the balance beam. He just made a run for it and started jumping on the trampolines by himself! The teacher had to go get him and bring him back to the group. So when it was time to jump on the trampolines for real, Nathan did a great job. He was having so much fun and was going SO high! But then he decided that wasn't fun enough, so he proceeded to run across ALL of the little girls' trampolines and back again! By this time, I'm thinking "Is the class almost over?!"

Then it was time to swing on the rope and fall into the foam pit. I knew Nathan would love this! He waited patiently in line for his turn.

He loved swinging on the rope and falling into the pit! After everyone had a turn, the teacher asked the kids to sit on the side of the wall and do a little activity sheet. Well, Nathan was the last to get up, and as all of the other sweet girls were going to their places on the wall, Nathan accidentally fell back into the pit! Then he started yelling that there was a shark trying to get him and he couldn't get out. Needless to say, I decided gymnastics wasn't really right for Nathan. He needs to be with wild boys like him! So we're going to try out soccer :)

The one girl he really loves to be with is Baby Charlotte. Here they are watching TV before bed.

What's really awful is that they were watching "Bachelor Pad" with me and Wayne!

Nathan's 3rd Birthday Party

This is the last of the birthday posts! Last Saturday was Nathan's big party with his friends. We had it at Pump It Up Jr. which is an indoor facility with tons of inflatables for little ones to play on. Nathan calls it "Bounce, Bounce." His party didn't start until 4:00, but we had to spend the morning getting ready for it. Nathan, Daddy, and Uncle Chris picked up the cake, balloons, and party hats that morning. Nathan was beyond excited about his party! I planned to have the party in the later in the afternoon so that Nathan would be able to take a good nap and be in a good mood, but he was so full of energy that morning, I didn't think there was any way he was going to actually lay down and fall asleep. I was so stressed out that morning trying to time everything just right...I finally had to just make myself relax and go with the flow. One of the big reasons why I wanted to have Nathan's party somewhere other than my house was so that I wouldn't be stressed out!

Well, Nathan pleasantly surprised me. He at lunch and then got in his bed around noon like such a good boy and slept until 3:00! He slept so long that I had to scramble to get him ready!

When we got to Pump It Up, Nathan was so happy! Connor and Jack were the first to arrive, and Nathan was pretty much beating down the door to get in and start bouncing!

Here he is climbing up the big slide.

And down he goes! Nathan got crazier and crazier the more he did this slide. Pretty soon, he was jumping as high as he could off the slide and hurling himself down! And he loved it when Papa started throwing balls at him as he came down :)

Back to the slide again...they were pretty much knocking each other over to get to the top first!

And they all came crashing down!

It looks like Mama finally gave up Charlotte for a minute to let Papa hold her...be careful Papa, I'm sure the baby hog is lurking somewhere ready to snatch her away again!

After we wore all of the kids out with their non-stop running, bouncing, and crashing, we were able to get them in a group to take a picture. But Andrew wasn't able to get out of a tunnel in time so he's missing: Jack, Connor, Molly, Trevor, Kelly, Nathan, Jake, Willow, Lauren, and Reece

All of the kids were a sweaty mess! Here, Lauren, Jake, and Nathan are waiting patiently to go into the party room for cupcakes, snacks, and cold drinks!

Nathan got a little shy, but loved having everyone sing to him.

Here he is posing with his Toy Story cake. Now it's time to eat!

Nathan had so much fun at his party, and it made Wayne and I so happy for him! The one thing Nathan couldn't wait to do was open his presents. So as soon as we got home, that's exactly what we did!

Auntie Carrie was in charge of Baby Charlotte while Nathan tore into his gifts.

Nathan got so many wonderful presents! This stack of toys kept him entertained the rest of the night! We even re-organized all of his toys on Sunday to make room for the new arrivals. Thank you to EVERYONE for coming to Nathan's party and for the great gifts. I promise you he loves ALL of them!

Baby Charlotte was so happy for her brother and I can tell she's looking forward to her first birthday too!

Daddy with his two babies...Just think Wayne, we now have double the parties to throw for each of them...and a wedding when Charlotte gets married! Keep working hard :)
