Christmas Lights

Our annual Christmas traditions: Charlotte goes to Mama's house to bake Christmas cookies, which she LOVES! Mama doesn't care about messes and she gets all the decorating goodies out. This year, they didn't get them all finished so Mama sent Charlotte home with all of her decorating supplies and Charlotte finished here. Even though it was a mess, I just let her have fun. I was really proud of myself. The other fun thing we love to do is drive around looking at lights. This is one of Rusty's favorites too. We go to Starbucks first and we all get a holiday drink, and Rusty gets a pup cup. He is so cute licking the whipped cream. And he LOVES to go for rides in the car. We always go to the Deerfield neighborhood. Every house is so decorated! It's like it's a requirement to live there.

 

Nathan and Camden Raking Leaves

Our neighbor across the street (who we think looks like Santa Claus) asked on the neighborhood facebook page if any teenagers wanted to make some money to rake his leaves. Nathan needed money so volunteered to do it. Actually, he needed hours for NHS, and was going to do it voluntarily, but then decided he'd rather get the money. He asked for Nathan to come over first to negotiate a price. Nathan said he was a really cool guy, and when Nathan gave his price, the neighbor said "That's horse shit, your price is too low, give me another number" Nathan thought that was hilarious! And I was glad he really wanted to pay him a fair price. So Nathan upped his number and they made a deal. After realizing how long it was going to take to rake all these leaves, he asked Camden to come help and split the money. They were so funny to watch from our house. They'd work, play in the leaves, take a break, work some more. They ended up doing a really good job though!
