Missing the Gierkeys

We have known the Gierkeys (Jake and Skylar) since we moved here 10 years ago. Nathan and I met Jennifer and Jake when they were babies at the school park and they lived right behind our house. Our driveways were pretty much diagonal. And then once Skylar and Charlotte were born, it was an instant foursome. The four of them went from my house to Jennifer's house constantly. We helped watch each other's kids. Water plants and get mail when one of us was out of town. We walked home from school together and all four of them became best friends. It was just this summer that they moved to a different neighborhood. They wanted a bigger house and for the kids to go to a middle school closer to their house. It was really strange when they first left. Normally when their garage door goes up, I'd hear Jake and Skylar running over to say hi. But not anymore. It's weird to not hear them outside swimming or playing and to see lights on but know it's not them. Since they've been gone, we've still gotten them together often. They do miss each other. The first picture is of the Legos Jake gave Nathan and then the 2nd is of them coming over after they already left to spend the day with us. We sure do miss them!
