Disney World, Day 2

Last night, after the parade, we stopped by Target before going back to the hotel. We stocked up on snacks, Capri Suns, and a stroller for Nathan. A stroller was a "must have" but to rent a stroller, it was going to be $15 a day. We just bought a chep $17 umbrella stroller, and thought we were geniuses for doing that!

On Day 2, we woke up bright and early (7:00 am thanks to Nathan) had breakfast at the hotel, and then headed to Animal Kingdom. Our main goals here were to go on the Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids, DinoLand, and see the Finding Nemo musical (along with anything else that caught our interest). I dressed Nathan in his swimsuit and swim shirt since I knew we'd get wet on the rapids...always thinking ahead!

Nathan also brought along his Peter Pan figure that he got the day before. When we first got to the park, we headed to the Safari ride to get a fast pass (which was all the way at the end of the park). Once we got there, we hit our first bump in the road...I scanned my entrance ticket to get into Animal Kingdom, but forgot to do Nathan's. Therefore, we couldn't get a fast pass for him. So we...I mean Wayne...had to run all the way back to the entrance to scan Nathan's card, then all the way back to the safari ride to get him a fast pass that had the same time on it as ours. Needless to say, Wayne was a bit frustrated with me :) Actually, he was frustrated with me because he told me exactly where to meet him after he got Nathan a fast pass, and I wasn't listening. Instead of being at the light post he pointed out, we were at a nice shady spot eating a snack. Wayne had to wait on us for ten minutes after running back and forth...oops!

When we finally met up again, we started over exploring the park while we waited for our time to go on the safari ride. Wayne saw a booth that had tattoos and knew Nathan would love one. He picked out Peter Pan of course!

Then it was finally time to go on the Safari ride. Nathan loved this! He was so excited to see all of the animals and had Peter Pan in his hand the whole time!

After the Safari ride, we had some lunch and then decided to go ahead and get fast passes for the rapids. We were going to save this until the end because we'd get wet, but saw that the standby line was only 20 minutes so we decided to go ahead and do it. When Nathan saw the rafts we were going to go on, he was so excited. Wayne and I just knew this was going to be his favorite thing to ride. WRONG! We told him he was going to get wet, but he said he didn't care. At the beginning of the ride, your raft gets taken up an incline on a conveyor belt, then it goes down a hill to start the ride. Nathan and I ended up being in the perfect position that when the raft went down the first hill and splashed into the river, we were the ones that got absolutely DRENCHED! The water was a bit chilly, and it was a big shock to Nathan. He immediately started crying. It was so sad. He kept saying, "I don't like this ride! I don't want to get wet!" And that was just the beginning of it! By the time the ride was over, he was so wet and cried more and more each time he got splashed. We got lots of look of sympathy as we exited the ride and walked past others waiting to get on. So to make it better, we let him pick out any kind of ice cream he wanted :)

After that catastrophe, we met Pluto, and then went to DinoLand which he loved. There was a huge play area where he got to climb on ropes, and dig for fossils. We also timed it perfectly so that we could rest while watching the Finding Nemo musical, and then go to this whole other section that had lots of characters like Pocahontas, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and all of the Pooh characters, and there was hardly anyone there! So we were able to go from character to character in no time. After we met our last one, we couldn't believe how crowded it had gotten. Well, it turns out that the Lion King show is right there, and it had just let out so all those people were now trying to get autographs. We were so lucky to have been in that area while everyone else was at the show!

We had another FULL day, and Nathan was exhausted. Our original plan was to go on to Magic Kingdom again that evening, but we knew that Nathan was so tired, that we thought it would be better to have a good dinner somewhere and try to get to bed a little earlier than 10:00 pm. Nathan actually fell asleep in the car on the way home. When I got him out at the restaurant, he still didn't wake up! So we just got a booth and laid him down next to me. He actually slept until we were finished eating, and then woke up right as we were about to leave. So we stayed another 30 minutes so he could have some dinner too :) We went back to the hotel, and talked about all we did that day and made our plan for the next day. Wayne and I both were loving how much fun Nathan was having!

Nathan, your Peter Pan tattoo is so cool! I'm sorry you didnt like the rapids ride. It looks like Day 2 was a blast, though! Pocahontas was so pretty :)
