Girls Weekend

A few weekends ago, we had a mini high school reunion. Adriana (and baby Jack), Allison, and Carrie came to Dallas for the weekend. We all stayed at Marla's house, even me! It was such a great weekend because we didn't have a ton planned. We ate at home Friday night, had some drinks, talked, and relaxed in the hot tub. On Saturday, we all slept in and were lazy most of the day. It was so nice to just relax and talk! We threw in a few more cocktails and a game of Left, Right, Center. And that evening, we went out to eat to a great Chinese restaurant that I just found out about. I have only been there once before, and I was so happy to go back. The food is so good! It was really great to get caught up with everyone. The way I know that this group is a true group of friends is that we can go months without talking and then pick right back up. LOVE THEM!

Sweet and Sassy Party

Charlotte went to her first Sweet and Sassy birthday party. One of her friends, Bella, turned 4 and had her party there. It was the cutest thing! First, the little girls got to pick out their dresses. Charlotte picked an adorable yellow one. Then they got to sit in front of a big mirror where they got their hair fixed, a tiara put on, eyeshadow, nails, and lips done. The girls LOVED it!After getting all fixed up, they went to a stage area where the high school girls who worked there, led them in a dance party. They played pop songs and showed the girls dance moves. It was so cute to see these little girls dancing and singing along with the big girls. I thought Charlotte would be really shy, but she wasn't at all! After the dance party, each of the girls got to walk down a big runway and "model" their dresses. Then it was time for cake and ice cream. The cutest part was that all of the girls held their little hands out worried that their nails weren't dry yet!

And Nathan had to tag along, but he brought his backpack with his IPad and DS so he plopped himself down in the hallway and was completely happy. While the girls were eating pizza and cake, I went out to check on Nathan, and he said he was hungry and wondered if it would be ok to have a piece of pizza. At the same time, Bella's mom came out to tell Nathan there was plenty of food and for him to fix himself a plate. So we went into the party room where he fixed a plate and then was looking for a spot to sit down. Bella's mom said, "There's an empty chair next to Elizabeth..." Nathan looked at all of the girls and said, "Ummmm, no thank you" And turned and walked out with his plate of food. All the moms died laughing because we knew he didn't want to sit in the middle of a bunch of three year old girls! The party was two weeks ago, and Charlotte still has remnants of her nail polish on...she does not want me to take it off.

Boys Playdate

It is safe to say that Nathan is Mr. Popular at school. I know I'm a little biased, but he really is well liked. Nathan has had a great kindergarten year. Not only is his reading and writing taking off, he has also made so many great friends. What is really wonderful is that we have met so many kids that live in our neighborhood that we didn't know before. So a couple of weeks ago, we had a four-boy playdate, all of which live in the neighborhood: Aidan (who has been over before), Barron, Nathan, and Ronen. The boys were all so excited! When I picked them up from school, Sra. Melendez saw me and released the herd of kids...they all came running. She said I was loco, ha! I was a bit nervous that they would be wild and crazy, but was pleasantly surprised! They all got along so well. They played the WII, their IPads, toys in the playroom and football outside. The next week, Nathan was invited to Barron's house, then during spring break he was invited to play with Ronen, and this week went to Aidan's house. I'm having them all back over next week. I'd say we have a good thing going here! Plus, a little girl named Lily lives on our street a few houses down. She's so cute but more like a tomboy. Yesterday afternoon, Nathan and Charlotte and I were having a front yard picnic. Lily came outside, saw Nathan and ran up to our house. Then they ran back and forth between houses playing with each other. Even Charlotte joined in! So they made plans to meet today after school and alternate between houses. Lily's mom told me that their playroom is being painted so they can't go inside, so we all decided they would play in Lily's backyard first, then come here to play upstairs, then just play on the sidewalk. It was so cute to hear them all making plans. I LOVE IT!

My "Vera Bradley" Bag

My last sewing project was a duffel bag for Charlotte. I am so proud of it because it was a lot of work, but turned out so cute! And the last pictures are just funny because Daddy was helping mom wind a ball of yarn...if only his golf friends knew this is what he does when he's not on the green!

Charlotte's Art Show

The 3 year old classses had an art show at school. They've been working on their pieces all year and then had a "gallery" to display everything. Charlotte was so excited for me to come to her art show and see all of her work. It was the cutest thing because the show was set up in a banquet room and really did look like a kid museum. I loved it and loved seeing Charlotte so proud of everything she did. I took pictures of all of her pieces. There was also a photo booth where we could dress up and get our picture taken. So much fun!
