Sky Ranch Campout

Wayne and Nathan went on a father/son camp out with The Adventure Guides at Sky Ranch camp. They left Friday right after school and got back Sunday morning. This is the third camp out they've gone on and I think the best one so far. Wayne said that Nathan was very brave and adventurous and tried all of the activities including a ropes course, zip line, archery, water slides, laser tag, a huge maze, and I'm sure I'm leaving out some things! Oh, they also got to watch a rodeo and then the kids got a chance to try to catch a calf and pull a ribbon off of it! Wayne said Nathan was so good the entire time and that he kept telling Wayne how much he loved him :) It was a great experience for both of them.

And here is a funny story about laser tag.  Nathan's group are all the same age, and most are in first grade. The weekend that worked best for this group happened to be the weekend that all of the third grade groups were there. So these little first graders are doing everything with third grade boys.  Wayne said they all got along fine but it was funny to see some differences, which brings me to laser tag. Nathan's group was on one team and a group of third graders was on the other team. They had these cool guns and vests with sensors on them and were playing on an outdoors course. When you got "shot" 15 times, you had to go back to the beginning and have your vest reset and then join the game again. So all of the dads were watching at the entrance and pretty soon, one of Nathan's friends comes to get reset. A few minutes later, here's another boy from the group, then comes Nathan. All of the first graders were getting the 15 shots because the third graders knew what they were doing! Wayne said it was so funny to see one after the other coming back to the front, but they didn't care, they had a blast. They even joined up with a group later in the night to throw water balloons on a girls camp!

Charlotte's Last Day of School

On Charlotte's last day of school, she wanted me to braid her hair on one side. It looked so cute, and Charlotte LOVED it!!! When we were driving to school, she was being so still in her car seat. At one point, she turned her head to see something out of the window, and then asked me if her braid was still in. She was so worried she was going to mess it up.
I went to her party that afternoon, and the kids had so much fun. It was a Hawaiian theme. I was sad to know we wouldn't be in the same class again with the same teacher. I really liked all of the kids and moms in this year's class, and we both loved Mrs. Peggy!!!

Super Citizen Award

Each nine weeks, the teachers choose 2 kids from each class and each grade to get the Super Citizen Award. During the last nine weeks, Nathan was chosen. His teachers sent me an email but told me that it was a surprise. So on Monday morning, we told Nathan we were going to his school for a PTA meeting. He had no idea! What was neat was that the award was duing the Wolf Call Assembly which is with with whole school! They did some announcements first and then got into the awards. Nathan was the first name called, and when they said it, he was sitting down and started looking around him like maybe they meant another Nathan. When he stood up with his certificate, he was so proud of himself! He kept smiling at us, and we could tell he was so happy. His teachers told me they choose the kids based on academics and character. They said he has done exceptional with his reading and Spanish, and is always so nice to his friends. Mommy, Daddy, and Charlotte were very proud of him.

Lemonade Stand

I can't believe I almost forgot to post this! A couple of weeks ago, grandmother's neighborhood had a neighborhood garage sale. Our neighborhood had one too before Helen's, and we sold a ton of stuff. Everything that was left over, we took to Helen's.  Nathan and Charlotte were so excited for this one because Grandmother set up a lemonade stand for them. I went over early in the morning to help Helen and let Wayne and the kids sleep in (although Wayne said Nathan was so excited that he woke up early!). Since I was going to leave early, I set out Nathan and Charlotte's clothes so it would be easy for Wayne to get them ready. They showed up around 9:00 and neither one of them were in the clothes I laid out! At least Nathan's clothes matched, but Charlotte...not even close.  The leggings she had on were part of the outfit I laid out, but her shirt was random.  I asked Wayne why he dressed her like that, and he said that when Nathan woke up early, he was so excited that he picked out his clothes and Charlotte's and got them both dressed. Wayne said he even brushed his and Charlotte's teeth! What is funny to me is that Wayne let her leave like that, I don't think I'd even let her play outside that mismatched! Oh well.

The two of them had so much fun and used such nice manners. The lemonade was free, but Grandmother made them a tip jar.  So every time someone came to shop, they both chimed, "Would you like some lemonade?  It's free!" And then then one would scoop ice and one would open the lemonade spout, and then they'd switch the next time. And they would both say things like "Thank you for coming!" Or "Have a nice day!" So cute! I think they also drank most of it. In the end, they made $15 and thought they hit the jackpot!
