Texas State Fair

The fair is always so exciting for us! Last year we went on the last day so I didn't want to cut it as close this year. But Wayne likes to be spontaneous and not over plan our weekends. He ended up suggesting we go to the fair the night before! Nathan had a flag football game Saturday morning but we brought clothes for Nathan to change into and headed down there as soon as his game was over. The kids were so excited! So excited that they fell asleep on the way there.
This was also the weekend of the Texas/OU game. We weren't sure what it would be like with the crowd but decided to chance it. Plus we had all day and night so we weren't going to worry about it. Wayne was also going to try to get cheap tickets for him and Nathan to go to part of the game. He assumed that it would be a blowout game with Texas losing so it would be easy to get in. Well, Texas was winning when we got there so no one was giving up their tickets. Nathan was so excited and wanted to see the game really badly. Wayne ended up finding an usher who just let them in since it was halftime! So lucky! And it was in the student section so they were going CRAZY! And Wayne said they were so inclusive of Nathan, kept giving him high fives, and getting him to chant cheers. One of the cheers was "OU sucks!" "OU sucks!" Well, Nathan knows he's not supposed to say that but Wayne let him join in because everyone was so excited that Texas was winning. Nathan said it was so cool to be there! While they were in the game, Charlotte and I just walked around and snacked on good food and drinks. We had fun together. And when the game was over, this HUGE crowd of people came flooding out. The Texas fans were on cloud nine because we won! We met up and it was a little crazy at first but then it wasn't all that bad later on. And the kids area was great! Everyone with kids stayed home from the craziness so we never had to wait in line at all for any of the rides. Wayne and I agreed that even though it was crowded, it really didn't affect us with our kids all that much. I think a day when they had cheaper rides (like a wristband day for all you can ride rides) would have been worse for us. We did everything we wanted, and Nathan and Charlotte didn't want to leave! They wanted to stay until night time so they could see all of the lights.
