Gingerbread Houses

Christmas wouldn't be complete without gingerbread houses. We made them out of graham crackers, icing, and lots of sugary toppings. It started out with just me doing this with the kids. I was following a pattern that called for cutting the graham crackers into different shapes to form the different parts of the houses. Well, I kept crumbling the pieces and couldn't quite figure out the engineering and construction of the houses, so we called on our expert. WAYNE!!! HELP!!! Daddy cut out graham crackers perfectly. Well, he went through about a dozen, but finally got them right...the mistakes were yummy to eat. So once Wayne got involved, he never really quit, and it turned into a competition between the 4 of us. Nathan wanted Daddy on his team at first because he did such a good job with the shapes and the gluing of the sides with icing. BUT when it came to the icing of the sides, well, let's just say that Wayne and Nathan's was a blobby mess. Mine and Charlotte's was nice and neat. Nathan took one look at mine and said, "I want to switch to Mommy's team." Ha!
